Re-posting Update for the plant
Updated On: Aug 17, 2017

Brothers and Sisters,

I met with management for the first time yesterday on the letter you have received in reference to the reposting on August 23, 2017. We will be meeting again either later this week or early next week. We discuss some of the union’s concerns with this major re-posting.

1.      There was excessing done in June on tour 2 and tour 3 at the plant therefore those remaining on those two tours must first have closed section bidding. The LMOU for the plant states that excessing is by tour by level. Therefore all jobs for tour 2 initially only tour 2 can bid on, and the same for tour 3.

2.      Secondly, the re-posting has to be done by junior employees first. For instance on the tour 2 reposting they currently have 31 jobs with Sat/Sun as SDO. On the reposting they only have 10 tour 2 jobs with Sat/Sun as SDO. Those 10 that they keep should be the 10 senior. They did not do that properly and that is being discussed.

3.      Thirdly, we then will look at and make our argument on justifying more jobs with the Sat/Sun as SDO. This is the process of how we will look at the information on each tour.

4.      This process will be followed for each tour and then we will meet again on the reposting.

We will keep you updated as much as possible. The union did not receive the information for the jobs until Friday evening. We will go through all information and meet with the postal service. The postal service does have a right to do a reposting in accordance with CBA 37.3.A.4 and your LMOU Item 21A.

Sincerely,

Anthony (Tony) Wilson

General President
